Snickerdoodles

Snickerdoodles!

Ingredients:
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 stick butter at room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cream of tartar

+ 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon for coating cookies

Makes 24 or 25 cookies

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 400° F
  2. In a large bowl beat eggs, cream, butter, and sugar with an electric mixer on high until you're convinced it just isn't going to get any fluffier
  3. Add in the flour, salt, baking powder, vanilla, and cream of tartar and then mix some more.
  4. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl, then with your cookie baller or spoon make medium sized balls of dough and roll them in the cinnamon and sugar mixture.
  5. Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes

  2. The cream of tartar is important for the tart flavor... let me do a little research and I'll see if there are any good substitutes for it.

  3. Ok, you can try three things, up the baking powder a little and add 1/2 tsp of vinegar, lemon juice, or 1 tsp of sour cream. I'm not sure how it will alter the taste, (if you'd like I'll test it out with which ever is most available to you and tell you the results before you attempt it)
